Lagunov scored two goals Friday night as the Catamounts defeated Boston College 5-4 in overtime, it was UVM's first win over the Eagles since 2016. Lagunov scored the game-winning goal, the fourth of his career, three minutes into overtime with a tip in front. UVM's leading scorer added a goal in Saturday's matchup with the Eagles for a three-goal weekend.
"Since his first moment on campus, Phil has demonstrated all the characteristics of a leader," said Head Coach
Todd Woodcroft. "He has proven that leadership isn't a rank – it isn't a letter on your jersey. Leadership is a skill and Phil embodies through his actions and with his on-ice performance. The best part about him is that Phil does this every day, day in/day out. Not only is he producing on the ice, but he is fostering an environment for his teammates to succeed as well. We are proud of his accomplishment this week and we know that tomorrow Phil will continue to be the leader that we expect him to be."
The Catamounts are off next weekend and will return to action on Friday, November 12 at 7 p.m. as they travel to face New Hampshire at the Whittemore Center in Durham. The Catamounts and Wildcats showdown will air live on NESN.
