MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont men's hockey is back in action this weekend as they host No. 13 Boston University (6-2-0) on Friday and Saturday night at 6 p.m. Friday night is the Catamounts annual Military Appreciation Night presented by Milton CAT. Both games will be broadcast live for free on CBS CollegeSportsLive. The new voice of the Catamounts, Maura Sheridan, will broadcast the action live on WVMT (FM 96.3 / AM 620).

EVERS NAMED HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Following the Catamounts last weekend of games against Maine on January 9-10 senior defenseman
Christian Evers was named Hockey East Player of the Week. In the first meeting with the Black Bears Evers picked up his first career three-point game with two goals and an assist as Vermont defeated Maine 5-4 for its first win of the season. In the rematch Evers picked up two more goals and also blocked a team-high four shots.
Evers was the first Catamount to earn Hockey East Player of the Week honors since
Stefanos Lekkas '20 on February 4, 2019.
BOUQUOT HELPING LEAD NEW COLLEGE HOCKEY FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION INITIATIVE
Men's Hockey sophomore forward
Jacques Bouquot is helping lead the new College Hockey for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative that was unveiled Wednesday evening. The initiative is designed to create positive cultural change in the sport through communication, education, allyship, and advocacy. A group of 27 people representing the 11 Division I hockey conferences began meeting in the summer of 2020 and are leading the movement.
"I wanted to join this committee because I want to help make hockey a more inclusive game," said Bouquot. "No matter your race, ethnicity, or gender everyone should be able to enjoy this great game. I hope this group can help bring equality to the hockey world."
College Hockey for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is dedicated to creating positive cultural change across our sport through communication, education, allyship, and advocacy. Together they are working for a better tomorrow, one shift at a time.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
The thirteenth-ranked Terriers have won six of their last seven games with their only loss coming in overtime at No. 1 Boston College last Friday. BU rebounded at home the next day handing the Eagles a 3-1 defeat.
In the Terriers 3-1 win first-year goaltender Vinny Duplessis stole the show in his collegiate debut, making 40 saves. Duplessis was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for his efforts.
Boston University is averaging 3.88 goals per game which is fourth in the NCAA and the best mark in Hockey East. Luke Tuch, David Farrance, and Logan Cockerill are tied for the team lead in scoring with four goals apiece. Farrance also leads the team in assists (10) and points (14).
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont is 23-52-10 all-time against the Terriers including a 9-23-4 mark at home. The Catamounts last win in the series was December 9, 2016. Since that win at home Vermont is 0-4-0 in its last four home tilts with the Terriers.
WELCOME KAUFMAN BACK TO CATAMOUNT COUNTRY

Max Kaufman will be returning to Gutterson Fieldhouse after playing 94 games as a Catamount over the last three seasons. In his time with Vermont he posted 15 goals and 20 assists. He has played all eight games this season for the Terriers and has four assists.
HOCKEY EAST ANNOUNCES 2021 TOURNAMENT AND SEEDING FORMAT
The 2021 men's and women's tournaments will be a single-elimination format with each game hosted at the home arena of the higher seed. Additionally, the league announced seeding will be determined by a newly-developed mathematical formula dubbed the Hockey East Power Index. The Catamounts are currently 11th in the HEPI, but along with Boston University have played the fewest games this season.
The men's tournament will begin with three opening round games between seeds 6-11 on Wednesday, March 10. Seeds 1-5 automatically qualify for the quarterfinals. Following a reseeding, the quarterfinals take place on Sunday, March 14. The semifinals are set for Wednesday, March 17 with the Lamoriello Trophy to be handed out in the championship game on Saturday, March 20. The latest possible date of the men's regular season will be Sunday, March 7.
DOVAR YOUNGEST PLAYER IN COLLEGE HOCKEY

Dovar Tinling is the youngest player in college hockey at the age of 17. The next closest players are Michigan's Owen Power and Matty Beniers who are 18 and one month. At 17 he is the youngest Canadian NCAA player since Jonathan Toews and Simon Danis-Pepin dressed for North Dakota and Maine, respectively, in 2005-06.
