COACH'S QUOTE
"It was great to play again," said Head Coach Jim Plumer. "Our players were so excited to get back to it and we played with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Our Burns-Skelton-Patkova line picked up right where they left off and their two goals set the pace. We blocked a lot of shot and when we didn't, Jessie McPherson was outstanding again. We are excited for the challenge that tomorrow brings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts wasted little time getting on the board. Less than two minutes into the game, Hailey Burns pulled the puck off the boards from the left wing and found a cutting Tynka Patkova in the slot. Patkova fired a wrist-shot through the legs of BU goalie Corinne Schroeder for the early score.
  • Near the eight-minute mark of the opening frame, the Terriers had a chance for the equalizer on the power play. MacKenna Parker flicked a one-timer right in front of the net but Jessie McPherson used her body to deflect the shot away.
  • With four minutes left in the second frame, Schafzahl tried to add an insurance goal. The junior slapped a shot from the left wing but the puck clanked off the right pipe.
  • The Green and Gold doubled their lead three and a half minutes into the final frame. Patkova skated up the left side and sent a pass near the crease where Skelton buried a one-timer into the right side of the net.
  • UVM added its third goal of the night two minutes later. Bella Parento worked a pass from the right wing to Lily Humphrey behind the net. Humphrey set up the scoring play with a pass to her left to an open Val Caldwell, who rifled a shot into the top right corner of the net.
  • In the final minute, Schafzahl added an empty-net goal for the final margin of victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Burns matched Patkova and Schafzahl with two points in the contest.
  • The 6-1-0 conference start is the best-ever for the program in Hockey East.
  • In her fourth-career start, Jessie McPherson logged her third shutout and made 22 saves.
  • The victory snapped a six-game winless streak against BU and the Cats picked up their first win at Walter Brown Arena since February 2, 2018.
  • When the Cats Win, Community Wins. With each Catamount win, Vermont Mutual Insurance donates $100 to a local non-profit. For 2020 they donated $15,000 to Spectrum Youth and Family Services. A special thank you to Vermont Mutual Insurance for their support. Vermont Mutual Insurance, protecting Vermonters since 1828.
  • With tonight's score of 4-0 Community Bank, N.A. will be adding a donation of $225 to Special Olympics Vermont. That brings this year's total to $2400. Cheer on our Catamounts as they go for the win while creating a special bond with community members! Thank you Community Bank, N.A. for your support of our UVM and Special Olympics athletes!
