HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVM's Michael McCormack opened the scoring just 45 seconds in Saturday kicking off a back and forth opening 15 minutes. UAlbany's Kyle Casey capped off a 2-0 Great Danes run to claim their final lead of the game at 2-1 with 10:50 left in the first quarter.
- UVM responded with a 3-0 run of its own over 2:47 of game action. Thomas McConvey scored on a man up building momentum then Limoges and JJ Levandowski tallied as well. David Closterman found the back of the net with 25 seconds left in the quarter to give the Catamounts a 5-3 edge after the first quarter.
- The second quarter was all UVM. The Catamounts outscored the Great Danes 5-1 in the frame with goals from Jonas Hunter, McCormack, two more from Limoges and a buzzer beater from Amos Gilbert. Gilbert scored his first career goal with one second left in the half to give UVM a 10-4 advantage.
- UAlbany started the second half strong scoring two quick ones to make it 10-6 with 10:53 left in the third quarter. McConvey answered back with another man up goal and Limoges tacked on his tenth of the season with 7:58 left to reestablish the Catamounts six-goal cushion.
- The Great Danes scored the next five goals to cut the Vermont lead to 12-11 with 8:50 left in the game. Coach Feifs called a timeout after Tehoka Nanticoke's second of the game made it a one-goal game.
- Over the next three minutes Ryan Cornell (14 Saves) made two key saves and UVM forced a shot clock violation. With 4:40 left Griffin Fenech slipped by his defender and walked in alone beating UAlbany's Liam Donnelly with a quick shot to give UVM a two-goal edge again.
- 72 seconds later Gilbert bullied his way through two UAlbany defenders and scored his second goal of the game to put the game out of reach.
