COACH'S QUOTE
"Hats off to Binghamton today on a tough Senior Day win," head coach
Chris Feifs said. "Teddy Dolan was fantastic and made us earn every goal. Overall we did not play with the level of urgency we needed to get the job done on the road. Quick turnaround for UAlbany this Wednesday."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Binghamton scored the game's first goal, Vermont struck on back-to-back possessions. David Closterman scooped up a loose ball in front and fired a shot home for his 12th of the season. Tommy Burke won the ensuing faceoff clean and then found Liam Limoges on the wing for a 2-1 lead.
- Binghamton took a 3-2 lead following a Daniel Mackinney goal but again the quick-strike Cats answered. Thomas McConvey fired a shot inside the left pipe and 20 seconds later JJ Levandowski bounced one inside the right to give Vermont it's 4-3 halftime lead.
- Ryan Cornell made seven stops in the first half.
- UVM found some semblance of control early in the second half and built a 7-5 lead with 4:42 left in the third quarter. Levandowski scored his second of the day – another bouncer from the left wing – and McConvey found his second on a nice feed from Closterman.
- That was the last offense for the Cats, though, as the Bearcats went on a 5-0 run over the next 19 minutes to grab a 10-7 lead and a victory over Vermont.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Cornell finished with 11 saves.
- Burke went 16-for-20 (.800) at the faceoff X – the sixth time he's been over 70% this season.
- It's the first time Vermont's been held scoreless in a quarter this season and first since the season opener last year.
