Vermont suffered its first conference loss of the season last weekend falling to UMBC, 10-8. The Cats trimmed a five-goal deficit to two with seven minutes to go but could not get any closer.

Griffin Fenech had a goal and three assists to pace the offense.
Ryan Cornell made 11 saves in cage.

Michael McCormack were added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. They are the first Catamounts to appear on the list sinceÂ
Ian MacKay in 2018. This week, McConvey garnered more national attention being named an Inside Lacrosse Midseason Honorable Mention All-American.

IN THE RANKS
Tommy Burke continued his stellar season an UMBC winning 15-of-22 faceoffs. The sophomore ranks sixth in the nation with a .691 win percentage at the faceoff X. He also ranks sixth nationally with 8.29 ground balls per game. Vermont, as a team, ranks fifth in that department scooping up nearly 38 per contest.

SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
UMass Lowell enters the weekend with a 1-5 record and 1-4 in America East play. The Riverhawks most recently dropped a 17-6 decision to UAlbany last weekend. Jake Lining leads Lowell in scoring with 15 points on nine goals and six assists this season while Max Christides (16.16 GAA) has played the bulk of minutes in cage. The Riverhawks rank 12
th in the country in ground balls per game.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday marks just the seventh meeting all-time, and second this season, between the two teams. Vermont holds a 5-1 edge in the series including a 21-7 win earlier this year in Burlington. UMass Lowell, however, did pick up its only win the last meeting in Lowell – an 8-4 victory in 2019.
