BOSTON -  Men's Lacrosse sophomore Tommy Burke was one of 16 America East student-athletes named America East Scholar-Athletes Wednesday afternoon by the conference office. The America East award recognizes student-athletes who have displayed academic and athletic excellence both this past season and throughout their careers. Nominees for the award must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and only one person can win the award for each sport.

Burke wins the award as the representative for America East men's lacrosse after posting a 3.8 GPA at UVM. A member of the Grossman School of Business, the Vermont sophomore majors in business administration.
 
Burke was a 2021 USILA, Inside Lacrosse and US Lacrosse Magazine All-American Honorable Mention. He wrapped up the most stellar season for a Catamount FOGO with single season program records for faceoffs won (240), faceoff win percentage (.698) and ground balls (125).
 
He also scored three goals and dished out two assists on his way to being named to the America East All-Conference First Team and America East All-Rookie Team. He was also named the New England Player of the Year, the first player in program history to earn that title.
 
His exceptional season helped guide the Catamounts to their first-ever America East regular season title, Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
