SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton dropped its season opener on Friday (Sep. 3) with a 1-0 loss to Rutgers. The Tigers were selected third in the Ivy League's preseason poll, scoring 93 points and receiving one first-place vote. Princeton did not compete last season along with all Ivy League programs, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2018, the Tigers claimed the League crown and welcome back All-Ivy selections Walker Gillespie and Kevin O'Toole.
Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Princeton have only squared off once in series history. The Tigers took a 2-0 victory on home turf in 1988.
Â
SITTING AT 3-0
The Catamounts carry their strong start to the 2021 campaign into Tuesday's contest. Non-conference wins over Iona, Lehigh, and Colgate give Vermont its first 3-0 start since 2016. It is the 13th time in program history, dating back to the inaugural season in 1964. The Catamounts have opened the season with three consecutive wins only four times since 2000.
Â
STRONG ON DEFENSE
The Vermont defense has stifled opponents to open up the season. The Catamounts are one of only 10 teams in the country to not allow a goal at this point in the season.
Nate Silveira is tied with 14 other Division I goalkeepers that carry a perfect 1.000 save percentage. The UVM defense has only allowed 3.33 shots on goal per game to assist its goalkeepers.

FALL 2021 FAN & VISITOR POLICY
UVM Athletics is excited to welcome fans back to the Archie Post Athletic Complex this fall. We are expecting full capacity crowds at Moulton Winder Field and Virtue Field for our field hockey and men's and women's soccer contests.
Â
With the number of regional COVID-19 cases increasing, the University of Vermont is now requiring anyone in a campus building to wear a face covering - regardless of vaccination status. The policy went into effect on August 5 to aid in protecting our community from the spread of COVID-19. This includes those entering Gutterson Fieldhouse to use the restroom, pick up tickets or visit concessions.
Â
In order to ensure the safety of students, staff and the community, UVM is now also expecting that all vaccine eligible visitors to campus, including fans attending athletic events, will be fully vaccinated.
Â
Regardless of vaccination status we are encouraging all fans to continue to wear face coverings while at UVM Athletics sporting events.
Â
While we anticipate these policies to last throughout the duration of the fall sports seasons, please continue to check UVMAthletics.com for updates as they are subject to change.
