Sydney Correa was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week and junior defenseman
Ellice Murphy was named Hockey East Defender of the Week. The conference made the announcement Monday afternoon.
Correa made her collegiate debut this weekend starting the Catamounts contests against Providence and Maine. She made 32 saves in the two games and currently holds a 1.55 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. On Sunday, she made 14 saves against the Black Bears earning her first career win and first career shutout in a 3-0 decision. Vermont is the only team in Hockey East to earn a conference win from three goaltenders this season.
Murphy scored shorthanded for the Catamounts in their 3-0 win over the Black Bears Sunday. She had nine shots over the weekend and blocked a team-high three shots in the shutout win over Maine. Over the last two seasons UVM is 3-0-0 in Hockey East games she scores in.
Vermont returns to Gutterson Fieldhouse next weekend as they host No. 10 UConn in a two-game set. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night. Both games will be broadcast live for free on CollegeSportsLive.
Friday is Youth Hockey Night, all kids 12 and under receive free admission if they're wearing a jersey.
