Men’s Hockey Hosts New Hampshire on Weekend Packed with Promotions

MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Catamounts return to Gutterson Fieldhouse for the for the first time in 20 days this weekend as they host New Hampshire in a two-game Hockey East weekend set. Vermont and UNH will faceoff at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night. The voice of the Catamounts, Adam LaFleur, will broadcast the action live on WVMT (FM 96.3 / AM 620) and the Varsity Network App, which you can download here. Both games will also be broadcast on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan on the call.

MILITARY APPRECIATION FRIDAY PRESENTED BY MILTON CAT
Friday is the Catamounts annual, Military Appreciation Game presented by Milton CAT. We encourage fans to visit with our friends from Josh Pallotta Fund, a local non-profit providing critical services to veterans and active military personnel. As a thank you to those that have served or are currently serving, all military personnel will receive a complimentary ticket to the game with a valid military ID. 
 
The team will be wearing special edition Military Appreciation jerseys that will be auctioned off online starting at puck drop. The online auction will go live on November 11 at 7 p.m. and will close on November 18 at 7 p.m. When the auction goes live, you can visit uvmathletics.com/auctions to place your bids. Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Josh Pallotta Fund.
 
TEDDY BEAR TOSS PRESENTED BY TD BANK SATURDAY
We encourage all fans to bring in a new stuffed animal to throw onto the ice in between the first and second period to benefit Lund, UVM Children's Hospital, and the Boys & Girls Club of Burlington. 
 
DUNKIN' GAME NIGHT SATURDAY
Saturday's presenting sponsor is Dunkin'. Dunkin' will be onsite in the student section entrance offering tasty treats and giveaways for students before the game! UVM Athletics runs on Dunkin'.
 
CAPTAIN LEADING THE WAY WITH HELPERS
Jacques Bouquot, the 63rd captain in program history, is leading Vermont in scoring early this season. He has five points all of them helpers for the Catamounts. His five assists are tied for 15th most in Hockey East this season.
 
LEAHY AND LEMAY SHOW UP FOR BORDER BATTLE
Vermont's Joe Leahy and William Lemay have played some of their most effective hockey in the green and gold against the Wildcats. Last season Leahy had three assists in three games against UNH. In five games over his career Lemay has two goals and two assists for four points. Last season Lemay had a goal and an assist against the Wildcats including a key game-tying tally.
 
CARRIERE UNBEATEN AGAINST THE WILDCATS
Junior goaltender Gabe Carriere had his share of success facing the Wildcats last season. On November 13, he made 36 saves in a 3-3 tie at the Whittemore Center. He made 21 of those saves in the third period and overtime. On February 11 Carriere made 23 saves for Vermont earning his third shutout of the season in a 3-0 win.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire is 3-6-1 this season and 0-6-1 in conference play. UNH's last four games have come against ranked opponents in No. 13 Providence and No. 16 Northeastern. The Wildcats were outscored 15-5 in the four games, earning one league point in a 2-2 tie with the Friars.
 
Sophomore forward Liam Devlin leads the team in scoring with four goals and seven points this season. Devlin scored in the Wildcats first four games this season but hasn't found the back of the net since October 18. Eight of the Wildcats 19 goals this season have come from first years. When leading after the first or second period UNH is undefeated this season. 52.6% of their scoring has come in the third period where they have tallied 10 goals.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Friday marks the 123nd meeting between Vermont and New Hampshire. UNH holds an 83-28-11 record in the series, bolstered by a 32-4-0 record to begin the series. Under Coach Woodcroft the Catamounts are 1-1-1 against the Wildcats. Over the last five seasons Vermont has hosted UNH just four times. UVM is 2-1-1 in those matchups. The series dates back to UVM's first varsity season. Vermont played New Hampshire in its third-ever game, losing 6-3 in Durham.

SIZE MATTERS
The Catamounts as a team have an average height of 6'1.6" which makes them the tallest team in college hockey. Boston University (6'0.9") is the only other team in Hockey East in the top-10. Vermont is also fourth in the NCAA in average weight at 191.0 pounds.
 
VERMONT CONNECTION SHINES AT 2022 WORLD JUNIORS
Joel Määttä became the first Catamount in program history to medal at the highest level of the World Juniors in August. He earned a silver medal with Finland, with three goals and an assist in seven games. Head Coach Todd Woodcroft earned a bronze medal as an assistant coach with Sweden. Ralfs Bergmanis (Latvia) and Luca Münzenberger (Germany) also competed at the 2022 IIHF World Juniors. Assistant Coach Scott Moser served in the same role for Slovakia as well.
 
RECORD NUMBER OF CATAMOUNTS ATTEND NHL ROOKIE CAMPS
Vermont had a program-record 11 student-athletes (committed or enrolled) participate at NHL Development Camps this summer. Joel Määttä who was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft attended Oilers camp with his UVM teammate Luca Münzenberger. Locally Porter Schachle and Gabe Carriere were invitees to the Boston Bruins development camp.
 
DRAFT CAPITAL
The Catamounts enter the new season with six NHL Draft picks on the roster. Robbie Stucker (Columbus, 2017 7th Rd.), Andrei Buyalsky (Colorado, 2021 3rd Rd.), Luca Munzenberger (Edmonton, 2021 3rd Rd.), Isak Walther (Nashville, 2019 6th Rd.), Timofei Spitserov (San Jose, 2020 7th Rd.) and Joel Määttä (Edmonton, 2022 7th Rd.) are sure to bring added NHL attention to the program this season.
 
GUT HOCKEY GOES INTERNATIONAL
The Vermont roster is comprised of student-athletes from nine different countries. There is at least one player from Finland, Latvia, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Germany, Kazakhstan, Canada and the United States.
 
TRANSFORMATIONAL FACILITIES UPGRADE
This season is the Catamounts first year in their brand-new facilities in Gutterson Fieldhouse. Vermont will be using a newly built theater style video room, locker room and lounge and Athletic Medicine space this fall. UVM Athletics paired with AMI Graphics to complete the spaces.
