COACH'S QUOTE
"We are very pleased with the weekend overall and the result tonight," Head Coach Todd Woodcroft said. "We stuck with our game plan and didn't stray from what we were trying to accomplish. There are many parts of our game that we need to address this week in practice – specifically game management – but anytime you can sweep at home, the coaching staff will be proud. It was extra special to the team to be able to do it in front of the players' families. We are already back to work preparing for a formidable opponent in Providence next weekend."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts opened the scoring 12:47 into the first period. With a tired group of Wildcats on the ice Vermont maintained possession and control for well over a minute before converting. Ralfs Bergmanis passed along the point to Eric Gotz and Gotz found first year Good alone in the slot. Good stepped into a shot that deflected off a UNH defender in front and found the back of the net for his first career collegiate goal.
  • Carriere was particularly strong in the second period making 12 saves to preserve the Catamounts edge. UVM killed off two UNH power plays in the middle frame only allowing one shot on net.
  • With 9:21 left in the third period Vermont's Leahy added an insurance marker for the Catamounts. William Lemay passed back to Leahy at the point and he unleashed a wrist shot labeled just under the bar for his first of the season. Will Zapernick earned the secondary assist.
  • The Wildcats cut the Vermont lead in half 1:58 later. Colton Huard floated a shot-pass towards the Vermont net and Kristaps Skrastins was able to get a stick on it and redirect it past Carriere for his first career goal.
  • In the final minute of regulation Carriere made two saves and Zapernick had a key blocked shot to preserve the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Vermont's Gabe Carriere remains undefeated against the Wildcats in his career. He's now 3-0-1 with 102 saves in three games.
  • With today's 2-1 win, Community Bank N.A. will donate $150 to Special Olympics Vermont. Community Bank, N.A. donates $75 per goal to Special Olympics Vermont for every goal the men's and women's team scores this season.
  • With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to COTS, the Committee on Temporary Shelter, as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. Since the campaigns inauguration in 2017, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group has donated over $72,000 to local non-profits.
