COACH'S QUOTE
"Game was great until we gave them a free goal," Head Coach
Todd Woodcroft said. "Allowing a team like UMass Lowell to play on the power play is not a recipe for success. We had an excellent first period but then gave them the game with dumb penalties. Currently, we do not have a healthy roster. Several long-term injuries, this is important to note because that means we don't have a reserve of players to go with to replace players who aren't performing. This is the group we have, it is up to the players to decide if they want to work or be out worked which happened to us tonight."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless opening frame the River Hawks opened the scoring 7:15 into the second period. Ryan Brushett pressured UVM's Gabe Carriere into a turnover behind the net and Brushett centered a feed to UML's Scout Truman who scored his fourth goal of the season into the empty net.
- Stella doubled the River Hawks lead 7:15 later in the second frame on the power play. Carl Berglund hit Stella with a stretch pass that sent him in alone on Carriere. He beat Carriere for his first goal with UML with a quick shot under Carriere's blocker.
- The River Hawks added two more power play tallies in the third period to close out Friday's scoring. Stella scored on a five-on-three advantage with 10:46 to play and Ben Meehan added another with just 3:08 left in the contest.
