BURLINGTON, Vt. – Five different Catamounts reached double figures as Vermont (3-7) defeated NVU-Lyndon (2-4) 101-63 in its return home on Thursday night at Patrick Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts and Hornets exchanged baskets early on and were knotted at 20-20 just past the midway point of the first half. NVU-Lyndon hit 5-of-10 three-point attempts in the early minutes with Mondwell Bukle sinking a trio of shots from long range. Aaron Deloney led UVM with six points, as the Cats made nine of their first 15 field goal attempts through the opening 12 minutes.
- Vermont sank eight of its next 10 field goals to take a 40-24 lead with 6:16 remaining. Deloney, once again, led the UVM attack, adding seven points in the run. The Catamounts also forced six turnovers and tallied three steals on the defensive end.
- UVM would maintain its cushion over NVU-Lyndon and take a 54-37 lead into the break. Deloney, Robin Duncan, and Sam Alamutu would reach double figures before the half, with 13 points, 11 points, and 10 points, respectively.
- Duncan put Vermont back up by 20 when he converted a layup with 4:34 into the second half to take a 64-43 lead.
- TJ Hurley scored seven points down the stretch as a late 22-5 run would extend the UVM lead. The Catamounts hit 7-of-14 attempts from the field and drilled 7-of-9 free throws to grow their lead. Michel Ndayishimiye made a free throw with 13 seconds left for the final score of the game. The 39-point lead was UVM's largest of the night.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Duncan led Vermont with a career-high 18 points. The fifth-year senior was an efficient 7-for-10 from the field, and converted 4-of-6 attempts from the line. Duncan also pulled in seven rebounds.
- Deloney finished the night with 16 points, making 7-of-13 attempts from the floor. He dished out a team-high four assists and forced a career-high five steals.
- Hurley had a career-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. The rookie made 3-of-7 attempts from deep in 24 minutes played.
- Alamutu recorded multiple career-highs, registering 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists on the night.
- Perry Smith Jr. rounded out the Vermont scorers in double figures with a 10-point night. Smith Jr. also matched Duncan and Alamutu with a team-high seven boards.
- All 11 Catamounts who checked in registered points in the non-conference win. Jorge Ochoa (4 points) registered his first career points, shooting 2-for-4 from the field on the night.
- With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to COTS, the Committee on Temporary Shelter, as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. Since the campaigns inauguration in 2017, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group has donated over $72,000 to local non-profits.
