BOSTON – Vermont women's lacrosse senior
Carolyn Carrera has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week, following her performance in the Catamounts' season-opening 17-8 victory on Saturday (Feb. 12) at Colgate. The league announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Carrera receives the first America East defensive honor of the season. The UVM defender caused a league-high three turnovers and scooped up seven groundballs in Vermont's 17-8 victory at Colgate. The senior contributed significantly to the Catamounts' defensive effort, which held the Raiders to only 14 shots on goal.
A native of Harriman, New York, Carrera was named to the UVM leadership team, joining five other Catamounts as captains for the 2022 campaign.
Carrera and Vermont return to action on Wednesday (Feb. 16) when they visit Boston University at Nickerson Field. The opening draw for Game 2 of the 2022 season is slated for 4 p.m.
