VESTAL, N.Y. – Ryan Davis and
Ben Shungu both scored double figures to lead Vermont (23-5, 15-1 AE) to a 66-49 victory over Binghamton (11-14, 8-8 AE) on Wednesday night at Binghamton Events Center. The Catamounts reach 15 wins in league play for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts and Bearcats exchanged buckets in the opening minutes. Shungu sank a three pointer at the end of the shot clock to put Vermont up 9-8 with 14:49 left in the first half. UVM would hold on to the lead after the Shungu triple. Kam Gibson entered the game minutes later and drilled a three pointer to expand Vermont's lead to 20-12.
- Tyler Bertram pulled the Bearcats to within a five-point deficit, but the Catamounts rattled off a 17-0 run to take a commanding 37-15 lead. UVM converted on 6-of-13 field goal attempts, but recorded five steals during the run which spanned 5:49. Dan Petcash ended Binghamton's scoring drought with a layup, but Vermont would take a 37-17 lead into the locker room.
- UVM stretched its lead to as large as 23 points when Aaron Deloney sank two free throws to put the Catamounts up 48-25 with 14:45 remaining. Binghamton countered with a 14-2 run over 4:50 to cut the deficit to 11 points with 9:26 left in regulation.
- Shungu and Davis combined for seven straight points to bring Vermont's lead back up to 18 points. Davis converted on a three-point play to give UVM the 57-39 lead with 6:17 remaining.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The 17-point first half for Binghamton marked the first time Vermont held an opponent under 20 points in a half since Jan. 16, 2021 against Maine.
- The Catamounts held an opponent to under 50 points for the third time this season, and first time in league play.
- Davis scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field. The senior converted on five free throws and pulled in three rebounds.
- Shungu posted 16 points, eight rebounds, and three assists in 30:30 of play. The UVM guard sank a pair of triples and picked up seven of his eight rebounds on the defensive glass.
- Justin Mazzulla registered a career-high four steals on the defensive end for the Catamounts. The fifth-year senior tallied three of his four steals in the first half.
