Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts jumped out to an early 4-0 against Penn State and never looked back in a 16-10 win last Wednesday in State College. It was the Cats' first win over Penn State and first over a current member of the Big Ten since 1986.
Liam Limoges tied a career-high with five goals while
Brock Haley added a pair of goals and three assists.
Tommy Burke went 21-of-30 at the faceoff dot and collected nine ground balls.
Â
LIMOGES AND POPE HONORED
Liam Limoges was named to the USILA DI Team of the Week after his five-goal outburst against the Nittany Lions. It's the second time in his career he's earned a stop on the team. Meanwhile,
Charlie Pope picked up the first weekly award of his young career when the America East named him conference Rookie of the Week. Pope scored twice and added an assist in the victory last Wednesday.
Â
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown enters Saturday's matchup with a 1-1 record after a season-opening win over Quinnipiac and most recently a setback at No. 12 North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Darian Cook (6-6-12) and Devon McLane (8-3-11) pace the Bears offensively while Connor Theriault has a .512 save percentage between pipes to anchor the Brown defense. Grad Student Ryan Aughavin was named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list and has four goals to his name to start 2022. The Bears played just one game last season – most Ivy League school did not play at all – and were picked to finish fifth this season. Â
Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday's meeting will be the eighth all-time between the Cats and Bears with the latter holding a 7-0 record in the series. The last game between the two teams was in 2012 in Burlington and Brown came away with a 14-5 win.
