COACH'S QUOTE

"Credit to Duke, I thought they did a great job in the second half of capitalizing on our mistakes," head coach Chris Feifs said. "I'm really glad we played a team of Duke's caliber early in the season. I'm proud of our guys but we're not satisfied so we'll get back to work on Tuesday and get ready for Utah."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Liam Limoges got the scoring started for the Cats with five minutes gone in the first quarter.
  • Duke answered with the next two scores from Nakeie Montgomery.
  • Ryan Cornell helped pull UVM even when he scooped up a ground ball in front of the cage and went coast-to-coast, finding David Closterman for his lone score of the game to make it 2-2.
  • The Cats scored the only two goals of the second quarter – tallis from Griffin Fenech and Michael McCormack to take a 4-2 lead into the halftime break.
  • Duke turned up the pressure in the third forcing five UVM turnovers and flipping a 4-2 deficit into a 8-4 lead.
  • Fenech, Thomas McConvey and McCormack found twine early in the fourth to cut the Blue Devil lead to 10-7. But Duke responded with five unanswered to ice the game and thwart off the Cats.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Ryan Cornell tallied the first point of his collegiate career with an assist in the first half.
  • Thomas McConvery now has a point in 34 consecutive games – every game of his career.
  • Tommy Burke went 17-for-25 (68%) at the faceoff X – the 11th time he's been 65% or better in his career.
WHO'S NEXT
