POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – A seven-goal third quarter distanced the Catamounts as Vermont (5-1) exploded for 16-5 victory over Marist (1-4) on a snowy afternoon at Tenney Stadium.
Grace Giancola led the way for UVM with a four-goal afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts grabbed the first lead of the afternoon on Erin Kloostra's third goal of the season 6:44 into the first quarter. Kloostra capitalized on a free position opportunity for the opening marker. Marist's Melissa Bucher countered with the 1-1 equalizer with 2:43 left in the first frame.
- Vermont opened the second half with goals from Ava Vasile and Giancola to take a 3-1 lead with 11:14 left in the frame. Bucher netted her second of the game, to briefly cut the UVM lead to one, before Vasile notched her second tally of the quarter for a 4-2 lead. Marist pulled back to within one goal in the final second of the half as Vermont took a 4-3 lead into the break.
- Giancola netted her second goal of the game to open the second half, but Marist tallied two-straight goals to tie the game at 5-5 with 9:31 remaining in the third quarter. Vermont countered with six-unanswered goals to close out the quarter with an 11-5 lead.
- The Catamounts added five more goals in the final frame. Vermont outshot Marist 8-3 in the fourth quarter.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Giancola's four-goal outing was her highest total over her last 12 games. The redshirt senior tallied six shots, and scored on all four of her shots directed on goal.
- Vasile registered three goals, marking the fifth-straight game this season that she has tallied at least a hat trick.
- Lexie Ruff scored her first goal since joining the Catamounts, and added two more for a three-goal output in her UVM debut.
- Kendall Traveis and Taylor Mullen registered two goals each for Vermont.
- Sophie McLaughlin recorded seven saves in goal for the Catamounts. Â
