Sophie McLaughlin earned her second America East Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, following her performance in Saturday's 16-8 victory over UMBC. The league announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon.

McLaughlin matched a season-high 10 saves and allowed only eight goals in Vermont's first victory over conference foe UMBC since 2016. The senior's 10 stops and .556 save percentage are her highest in America East play this season. McLaughlin and the Catamounts held the Retrievers scoreless for 27:59 span, including a shutout third quarter. The reigning America East Goalkeeper of the Year also picked up six ground balls and caused one turnover.
McLaughlin carries a 10.01 goals against average this season, which leads the conference and ranks No. 16 nationally. Her .428 save percentage is third-best in the league. The Keene, N.H. native is also third in America East in ground balls per game (2.73).
