SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Vermont (12-3, 3-2 AE) rallied back from an early five-goal deficit to defeat Bryant (10-3, 6-0 NEC) 17-13 on Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium. With the victory, the UVM ties the single-season wins record.
Ava Vasile netted a team-high five goals and became the ninth Catamount in program history to reach 100 career goals. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bryant grabbed an early 5-0 lead with Margaret Adams and Peyton Woodward leading the way. The two Bulldogs scored a pair of goals each and Kenna Kaut added a marker in the early run. Vermont countered with goals from Grace Giancola and Vasile to briefly cut the deficit to three with 4:57 left in the quarter. Bryant then struck twice to close out the quarter with a 7-2 lead.
- The Catamounts and Bulldogs exchanged goals in the first two minutes of the second half, as Bryant maintained its five-goal lead. McKenzie Ballard recorded a hat trick in the frame, leading UVM's effort to chip away at the lead. The Bulldogs would take 9-6 lead into the break.
- Vermont rallied in the third quarter, outscoring Bryant 8-2 in the frame to take the lead. Vasile pulled the Catamounts to within a goal with 5:51 remaining in the frame and Grace Giancola netted the equalizer 43 seconds later. Dani Paterno scored the go-ahead goal with 3:18 left in the quarter.
- Alexa Weber and Kaut opened the fourth quarter with goals in the first 5:51 to pull back to within a goal. Vasile ignited the UVM offense with her fifth goal of the day, sparking a 3-0 run to cap off the comeback.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Vasile led the UVM attack, registering five goals for the third time in the last four games. The junior's 50th goal of the season ties her for sixth-highest single-season total in program history. Vasile also recorded one assist.
- Giancola netted three goals on eight shots. The redshirt senior was 2-for-2 on free position shots, and came down with three draw controls.
- Ballard's hat trick came on four shots, converting on all three shots directed on goal.
- Patarno (2 goals, 1 assist) and Taylor Mullen (2 goals) also had multi-point outings for the Catamounts.
- Sophie McLaughlin registered a season-high 12 saves in goal for Vermont.
