BOSTON – Vermont goalkeeper
Sophie McLaughlin has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. The league announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon.

McLaughlin registered a .543 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Catamounts. The senior began the week with a seven-save performance in 14-3 road victory at Dartmouth on Apr. 20. Her .700 save percentage against the Big Green is her highest single-game percentage this season. McLaughlin followed up that performance with a season-high 12 saves in Vermont's come-from-behind 17-13 victory at Bryant.
The Keene, N.H. native leads America East this season in goals against average (9.67), and owns the league's second-best save percentage (.447). McLaughlin also ranks second in the league in ground balls per game (3.13).
McLaughlin's Defensive Player of the Week award is her second in the month of April, and the sixth by a Catamount this season. The senior is tied with
Carolyn Carrera for most Defensive Player of the Week awards (3) this season. McLaughlin's award marks the seventh time in 11 weeks that a Catamount has earned a weekly award this season.
The Catamounts can set the single-season wins record in the regular season finale against Binghamton on Saturday (Apr. 30) at Virtue Field. The opening draw is set for 12 p.m. and will broadcast live on AmericaEast.TV. Tickets are available for purchase at
