BOSTON –
Thomas McConvey and
Ryan Cornell both won major awards while a program and conference record nine Catamounts landed on the America East All-Conference First Team to headline Vermont's representation on the league's all-conference teams. Postseason awards were announced this afternoon.
In total, a program-best 11 Catamounts earned 14 all-Conference spots – soaring past the previous record of eight set in 2019.

Thomas McConvey becomes just the second Catamount ever to be named Offensive Player of the Year (Ian MacKay – 2018). He led the league with 43 goals this season and ranks 12
th in the country. His 54 points ranked second among conference leaders. Over his last three games he's averaging five goals per game and has a hat trick in each of the last five games. It's the second straight season he is a member of the All-Conference First Team and he was also named to the All-Academic Team.
Ryan Cornell is the first Catamount ever named Defensive Player of the Year after posting a stout 2022 regular season. He ranks second in the country with an 8.49 goals against average and 10
th with a .559 save percentage – both are also tops in the conference. He was a three-time Defensive Player of the Week this season. The graduate student ranked 9
th in the league with 52 ground balls and seventh with 16 caused turnovers and he also added two assists. He was named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-Academic Team.
Junior faceoff specialist
Tommy Burke claimed spots on the All-Conference First-Team and All-Academic team for the second straight season to cap off a dynamite regular season. Burke won the ball at a .634-clip this season, which ranks 3
rd in the country and is tops in the league. He was even better during league-play winning at 65.7% against conference foes.
Former America East Rookie of the Year
David Closterman earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team for the first time in his career. Closterman led the league with 55 points (24G, 31A) during the regular season and closed out the campaign with a six-assist game against Stony Brook. Against conference opponents this season, he averaged 4.83 points per game.
Junior midfielder
Brock Haley also landed on the First Team after quietly putting together a fine regular season. His 40 points (21G, 19A) ranked third on the team and sixth among league leaders. In conference play, Haley averaged nearly four points per contest.
After an All-Rookie Season in 2021, junior LSM
Nick Alviti found himself on the First Team in 2022. His 25 caused turnovers were tops in the league and his 65 ground balls ranked fifth. Alviti also pumped in seven goals – which ranks first nationally among LSMs – and he added three assists.
Four-year starter
Will Jones earned First-Team status for the second straight season after anchoring a Vermont defense that gave up the second-fewest goals in the league this season. Jones ranked second on the team with 16 caused turnovers and scooped up 23 ground balls.
After missing all but two games in 2021 because of injury, First-Team selection
Jackson Canfield returned in 2022 and made an immediate impact at close defense. He picked up 39 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers while drawing the opponents top offensive threat each weekend.
Sophomore Pat Murphy rounds out the First-Team selections for the Catamounts. Murphy stepped into the SSDM role this season and became a steadying presence in the transition game. He scored two goals, picked up eight ground balls and caused five turnovers in 2022.
In his second year at UVM,
Michael McCormack earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team. McCormack finished the regular season with 31 goals – fourth in the league – and eight assists. He was named Offensive Player of the Week after an eight-point outing against UMass Lowell and his 2.17 goals per game in league play ranks seventh overall. Three times this season, he's scored four or more goals in a game.
Charlie Pope is the lone representative for the Catamounts on the All-Rookie Team. He finished his first regular season in Burlington with 13 goals and five assists for 18 points and was named the Conference's Rookie of the Week twice this season.
The Regular Season Champion Catamounts (9-6, 6-0) take on the four-seed UAlbany Great Danes Thursday night in the America East semifinals at Virtue Field. First faceoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on AmericaEast.TV.
