WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTEBOOK
Vermont (3-4-1, 0-0-1 AE) will travel to play Bryant (3-5-1, 0-1-0 AE) on Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m. in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Vermont ended in a scoreless tie with UMBC in their first America East matchup of the season, while Bryant fell 1-0 on the road to Binghamton. The game will be broadcast live on Americaeast.TV.

AMERICA EAST ROAD OPENERS
Under Head Coach
Kristi Huizenga the Catamounts are 3-8-1 in America East Conference road openers. However, seven of those losses came in one-score games including last season's 1-0 defeat to Binghamton. Vermont last won their first road conference game of the season against Binghamton in 2017 (Oct. 1) with a 2-0 deciding factor. UVM has been outscored in their road conference openers 22-16 under coach Huizenga.
Karen Wallace has scored twice (Sept. 22, 2019, and Mar. 21, 2021) in her three road conference openers while
Natalie Durieux has added an assist. (Sept. 22, 2019) during hers.
SCOUTING BRYANT
Bryant enters Sunday's matchup with a 3-5-1 record overall and 0-1-0 in their first season in the America East. Bryant's first America East conference matchup ended in a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Binghamton. Bryant has defeated Saint Peter's, Holy Cross and Stonehill with a draw against Merrimack. The Bulldogs are led by Sophomore Emma Pedolzky who has four points on two goals in five starts. Juniors Anna Carson and Sofia Cassano along with graduate student Chae Diani have contributed three points on a goal and assist each. Kathryn McNeil Jr. has started seven games for Bryant registered 25 saves and a .781 save percentage, while being credited with all three Bulldog wins. Bryant has been outscored 16 to 10 on the season by their opponents.
INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the sixth matchup all time between the two teams, with this coming as the first meeting as America East foes. The Catamounts trail the series 1-4-0 with their sole win coming at home 2-1 (Sept. 22, 2013). The teams will meet in back-to-back years for the first time in series history, with the Bulldogs claiming the 2021 matchup 2-1 at a neutral site (Applejack Stadium, Manchester, Vt.).
Frances O'Donnell recorded an assist in that game for Vermont. Bryant has outscored the Catamounts 10-5 in their previous five matchups. The last time UVM traveled to Smithfield was in 2019 when they lost 2-1.
CATAMOUNTS TO HOST FREE CLINIC SEPTEMBER 27
Vermont women's soccer will host a free Clinic with the Cats on Tuesday, September 27, from 4:45-5:45 p.m. on Virtue Field. All kids 12 and younger are encouraged to bring their soccer gear and will receive an hour-long skills and drills session from the coaching staff and members of the team.
