COACH'S QUOTE
"It was really important to get back to some intensity today," head coach
Matt Belfield said. "The long break around the holidays always creates a little rust, even for those who trained well the last few weeks. I was really happy to see so many fans and alumni supporting us at Middlebury's fantastic field house today. The big crowd is a tremendous boost for our teams. While it's important to recognize our event winners today; I'd like to point to some folks who really stood out for their noteworthy performances. For the women,
Gabby Rausa looked really smooth throughout the 200 and finished strong. I though rookies
Alina Staten and
Shawn Laverty were outstanding in the 3k as well. For the men,
Davis Cote closed the mile exceptionally well to support another wire-to-wire win from
Andrew Crompton. It was great to have
Dillon Jensen back racing as well.
Owen Amsden's 3k was a highlight, as well as a really dynamite 4x400 spilt from
Cameron Kirn. One of my favorite things to watch these days is
Alex Siaton running the 200. Really smooth from the gun. Looking forward to seeing what kind of improvement we can make back at Middlebury next week before the schedule sends us to Boston for the rest of the winter."
