Burlington, Vt.– Alina Gerke's 46th-minute goal proved the difference as Vermont (7-8, 4-3 AE) defeated Maine (7-9, 3-4 AE) Friday afternoon in Burlington.Â

"These guys really earned it today with some focused play down the stretch. This was not an easy match with Maine, but I just think they stayed the course and really believed in themselves, so it's exciting," said head coach Kate Pfeifer. "All season long we have been talking about controlling our own fate, as much as we possibly can, and we tried to instill this was a good position to be in and seal our ticket to the playoffs and I think they managed that pressure pretty well."

- Saylor Kuefler started the scoring when she tapped in a pass from Kate Richardson in the 34th minute.
- Lilly Leiprecht tied the game when she scored two minutes later when she redirected a pass from Lauren Schellhamer into the back of the net.Â
- Gerke gave the Catamounts the lead for good when she knocked in a goal in the 46th minute.
