RELIVING SATURDAY'S COMEBACK
TJ Long's four-point play at the buzzer lifted Vermont to an improbable 66-65 comeback victory over Yale on Saturday night in front of a packed Patrick Gym. The Catamounts were down 65-60 with just 3.8 seconds left. Aaron Deloney scored a layup with 0.6 seconds remaining to make the score 65-62, and TJ Hurley drew an offensive foul before Yale could inbound the ball to help the Cats regain possession. Deloney found Long on the right wing who banked in a three pointer while getting fouled at the buzzer and drained the ensuing free throw. KenPom had Vermont with a 0.8% chance of winning when down 65-62. Long's basket was featured on Sportscenter's Top 10 plays.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Northeastern is 2-3 in its last five games, with a win over Old Dominion (W, 81-68) in its most recent outing on Saturday (Dec. 2). The Huskies have four players averaging double figures this season, with Luka Sakota posting a team-high 12.0 points per game. Chris Doherty averages 10.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season. The 6-7 forward has posted three double-doubles, which ranks 31st in the country. Joe Pridgen (10.3 ppg) and Jared Turner (10.0 ppg) also average double figures. The Huskies get to the free throw line often, ranking 33rd in free throws made per game (16.9) and 52nd in free throw attempts per game (23.9).

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Northeastern meet for the 74th time in series history on Wednesday night. The Catamounts have a 29-44 mark in the all-time series, but are 14-6 in the last 20 games. UVM and Northeastern last met in 2018 when the Catamounts took a 75-70 victory at Patrick Gym. The regional foes were supposed to meet in Boston in 2021-22, before a cancelation due to COVID-19.

HOT START
Vermont has started 7-2 for first time since the 2010-11 campaign. The Cats have started 7-2 or better 11 times in program history, with nine of the 11 times coming were before 1960. A victory would give Vermont its first start of 8-2 or better since 1956-57.

3PT HEAVY
Vermont has attempted a three pointer on 47.3% of its field goal attempts against Division I opponents, which is the 17th highest rate in the country. The Catamounts rank 13th in three-pointers per game (10.5).

MID-MAJOR TOP 25
The Cats moved up four spots in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 to No. 15 after defeating Yale. Vermont also improved to No. 9 in the Field of 68's Cinderella Top 25 poll.
