SCOUTING THE SHARKS
LIU earned its first win of the season on Feb. 18, defeating Quinnipiac 13-6. The Sharks were led by Hannah Kenneally (1 goal, 4 assists) and Lluna Katz (3 goals) in the victory. The Sharks were selected No. 2 in the Northeast Conference Preseason Poll, receiving four first-place votes after going 5-3 in league play a season ago. Junior Catherine Robles returns to LIU after earning All-Conference Second Team honors a year ago. Attacker Francesca Vasile-Cozzo led the Sharks in points (36) in 2022.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and LIU meet for the fourth time in series history on Wednesday. The Catamounts are a perfect 3-0 against the Sharks. UVM defeated LIU 19-6 in their last meeting in 2014. Ariel Nicholas (2 goals, 2 assists), Sydney Mas (4 goals), and Jessica Roach (3 goals, 1 assist) each had four points in the victory.

EARLY TESTS
The Catamounts have been tested early with games against two teams from the IWLCA National Poll to open the season. Vermont began the 2023 campaign at Temple, who was receiving votes in the poll, on Feb. 10. UVM faced No. 22 Yale in its last time out.

Claire Adelhelm has opened the season with a team-high four points through the first two games. Her assists per game (1.5) ranks No. 7 in America East. Adelhelm began the season with a three-point outing (1 goal, 2 assists) at Temple.

CARRERA CONTINUES TO CAUSE TURNOVERS
Carolyn Carrera has averaged 2.5 caused turnovers per game to start the 2023 season, which ranks No. 3 in the conference. The graduate student ranked No. 2 nationally in 2022 with 2.89 caused turnovers per game. Carrera was an ILWomen All-America Honorable Mention, along with teammate
Ava Vasile.
