MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
On the Catamounts, final home weekend of the 2022-23 campaign they will welcome No. 8 Boston University to Gutterson Fieldhouse for a two-game set. Friday (7 p.m.) is Senior Night presented by the UVM Alumni Association and the Catamounts will honor
Jacques Bouquot,
William Lemay and
Joe Leahy in a pregame ceremony. On Saturday, the Catamounts will close out the series with the Terriers at 7:30 p.m. on Burlington Telecom night. Fans can enter to win a Smart TV at their table in the lobby.

Both contests will air on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan on the call. The voice of the Catamounts, Adam LaFleur, will broadcast all the action from the Handy Toyota Broadcast Booth on WVMT (FM 96.3 / AM 620). As always, the game will also be available on the Varsity Network App.

CARRIERE SEEING RED
Junior goaltender
Gabe Carriere made his first-ever collegiate start against the Terriers in 2021, making 42 saves in a 1-0 loss at Gutterson Fieldhouse. In three career starts against Boston University he has stopped 95 of the 101 shots he has faced, good for a .941 save percentage.

WALTHER LEADING THE WAY FOR VERMONT
Sophomore forward and Nashville Predators draft pick
Isak Walther leads the team in scoring this season with seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points. In Vermont's last eight games Walther has four goals and three assists for seven points.

CATAMOUNTS ARE FAST STARTERS
Vermont's best period this season has been the opening 20. The Catamounts are outscoring its opponents 22-15 in the first period. UVM has scored first in 13 of their games this season.

SPECIAL TEAMS LOOM LARGE

Todd Woodcroft, the Catamounts have been unscathed on the penalty kill against the Terriers. In four games against Boston University the Vermont penalty kill has been 12-for-12. In seven of Vermont's nine wins this season they have kept their opponent from scoring on the man advantage.

SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Under first year Head Coach Jay Pandolfo the Terriers rose to number three in the country in early February with seven straight wins. After two losses in the 2023 Beanpot presented by Dunkin' to Northeastern and Boston College the Terriers were swept in a home-and-home set with Merrimack last weekend. The Terriers are 14-6-0 in league play this season and have already clinched a bye into the Hockey East quarterfinals. The Terriers sit one point behind Northeastern in second place are one of four teams in HEA (NU, BU, Merrimack, UMass Lowell) still in contention for the HEA regular season title.

Boston University senior Matt Brown leads all Hockey East skaters this season with 40 points. He has 14 goals and 26 assists and also notched three game-winning goals this season. In seven career games against the Catamounts (with UML & BU) Brown has four goals and five assists. The Terriers offensive attack also features the highest-scoring defenseman in the country Lane Hutson. Huston, a Montreal Canadiens second round draft pick, has 10 goals and 28 assists. He also had four points for Team USA at the 2023 World Junior Championships, winning a bronze medal.

SERIES HISTORY
Vermont is 24-55-10 all-time against the Terriers including a 9-25-4 mark at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Catamounts last home win in the series was December 9, 2016. Boston University has won the last six contests in Catamount Country.

Vermont split a weekend set at Agganis Arena last January.
William Lemay notched his first career game-winning goal in overtime to defeat the Terriers 2-1 in the series opener. It was the first time in program history UVM defeated Boston University in overtime. BU claimed the second game of the series 4-0.

SIZE MATTERS
The Catamounts as a team have an average height of 6'1.6" which makes them the tallest team in college hockey. Boston University (6'0.9") is the only other team in Hockey East in the top-10. Vermont is also fourth in the NCAA in average weight at 191.0 pounds.

The Vermont roster is comprised of student-athletes from nine different countries. There is at least one player from Finland, Latvia, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Germany, Kazakhstan, Canada and the United States.
