BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's lacrosse team dropped its third straight contest Saturday afternoon falling to UMass, 12-4.
UVM falls to 2-4 as it wraps up non-league play while UMass improves to 4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both defenses put on a show in the first quarter with the first goal not coming until 2:07 remaining from Carter Castillo to put UMass up 1-0.
- UMass outscored the Catamounts 4-0 through the first 13 minutes of the second quarter to take a 5-0 with 1:53 remaining in the first half.
- Vermont stemmed the tide shortly thereafter as Griffin Fenech got the Cats on the board with 1:33 remaining but UMass held on to a 5-1 lead at the break.
- UMass went on a another run in the third quarter with five straight goals to jump out to a 10-1 lead.
- Jake Harrington scored his first two goals of the season in the fourth quarter as Vermont outscored the Minutemen 3-2 over the final 15 minutes.
