NEWARK, N.J. – The Vermont men's lacrosse team outscored NJIT 7-3 in the fourth quarter to snap and three-game losing streak and pick up its first league win of the season outlasting NJIT, 16-10, Saturday afternoon.
The Cats improved to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in America East action and NJIT falls to 2-5 and 0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After NJIT took an early 1-0 lead, Brock Haley got the Cats on the board in the first quarter after a nice find by Tristan Whitaker.
- Haley figured into the next three UVM goals assisting both of Carson Boyle's first career goals and scoring another one of his own to give UVM a 4-1 lead with 7:48 to go in the first.
- NJIT answered back with two straight spanning the first and second quarters to cut the lead to two at 5-3 with 14:42 to go in the second.
- Boyle completed the first-half hat trick for UVM on an assist from Charles Huntley to make it 6-3 with 5:11 left in the half.
- Jake Harrington started the second half strong for UVM picking up his third goal in the last two games to make it 7-5.
- After NJIT made it 9-8 early in the fourth, Whitaker answered back with a huge score to give the Cats a two-goal cushion 11:20 to play.
- Harrington finished off his hat trick with a score to make it 11-9 and Brock Haley got his to make it 12-9 to with 7:01 to go.
- UVM closed the game on a 6-1 run to finish out the Highlanders.

- Four Catamounts made their first career starts Saturday – Jake Harrington, Carson Boyle, Mason Dorr and Tristan Whitaker.
- Boyle is the first Cat with a hat trick in his first career start since Liam Limoges on Feb. 1, 2018. He finished the day with six tallies.
