SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
UAlbany begins its conference slate on Saturday against Vermont. The Great Danes have suffered losses in two of their last three games, including a 21-20 loss at No. 18 Stanford. They were victorious at UC Davis (W, 17-15) on March 15, but fell to UConn 20-12 on Wednesday afternoon. Katie Pascale leads the team in points (42) with 24 goals and 18 assists. She ranks No. 3 in the conference in points per game (4.67). Graduate student, Shonly Wallance, leads the team in goals (29) and ranks No. 3 in the conference in goals per game (3.22).

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts are looking to string together back-to-back wins against the Great Danes for the first time in series history. Vermont defeated UAlbany 12-11 in the 2022 America East Championship to snap a 16-game winless streak in the all-time series. UVM and UAlbany split the season series last year, with each team earning road victories.

RELIVING THE 2022 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
The 2022 Catamounts rallied from a five-goal deficit en route to clinching its first America East Championship last season against top-seeded UAlbany (W, 12-11) at John Fallon Field. Grace Giancola scored three goals, including the tying and winning tallies in the final minutes to secure the conference title. The now-assistant coach was named the championship's Most Outstanding Player. Carolyn Carrera, Molly McDonough, Ava Vasile, and Sophie McLaughlin were named to the All-Championship Team.

PRESEASON FAVORITES
Vermont and UAlbany were selected as the top two teams by the league's coaches in the 2023 America East Preseason Poll. The Catamounts edged out the Great Danes with four first-place votes and a total of 34 points. UAlbany picked up the three remaining first-place votes and a total of 33 points.

BACK-TO-BACK AWARDS FOR JANE
Jane Trauger was named America East Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, after producing five points in Vermont's 17-7 win over Bryant on March 18. The first-year attacker had four goals and added one assist as UVM's winning streak extended to three games.

STREAK NUMBERS
Vermont has won its last three games by an average scoring margin of 10.7 goals per game, with double-digit victories coming in back-to-back wins. The Catamounts have held opponents to seven goals or less in each of their three wins.

CARRERA'S WEEKLY HONOR
Carolyn Carrera was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after recording seven caused turnovers and three ground balls in Saturday's victory over Bryant.
