BURLINGTON, VT. – The Vermont men's lacrosse team won its sixth straight game and clinched at least of share of its third consecutive America East Regular Season title with a 21-3 victory over visiting UMass Lowell Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field.
Vermont improved to 8-4 overall and 6-0 in America East action and will host the 2023 America East Tournament May 4-6. UMass Lowell falls to 0-12 and 0-6 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carson Boyle scored UVM's first goal just 52 seconds into the contest in what would be Vermont's highest offensive output of the season.
- Goals from David Closterman, Tristan Whitaker, Brock Haley, Ezra Zabukovic and Colin Sharkey had UVM up 7-0 after one quarter.
- It was more of the same in the second frame as the Cats scored another seven goals including four from Haley to take a 14-0 lead into halftime.
- After two goals from Closterman made it 16-0, UMass Lowell got on the board on a goal from Nick Harvath.
- George Egan made five saves spanning the third and into the fourth for Vermont.
- Ty Woolston scored his first career goal to the delight of the Catamount faithful and gave the Cats an 18-1 lead.
- Same Bowen, Clay Weiss and Per-Anders Olters all scored in the fourth the put the finishing touches on the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Haley and Closterman each finished with five goals for UVM. Haley reached 50 points for the second straight season while Closterman hit the 40-point mark for the third time in his career.
- 15 different players recorded points for the Catamounts which is a season high and the most in the Chris Feifs era.
- Tommy Burke went a perfect 15-for-15 at the faceoff X – his highest win percentage of the season and his career – to go along with 10 ground balls. UVM as a team was 23-for-27.
- Vermont is now 8-1 this season when scoring at least 10 goals.
- The Catamounts have won their last 18 games against conference opponents. Their average margin of victory in that streak is 6.6 goals.
- UVM honored its 14-member senior class in a postgame celebration presented by the UVM Alumni Association.
- With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to King Street Center as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. Since its inauguration in 2017, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group has donated over $80,000 to local non-profits through the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative.
