NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS: DAY 1
DEDHAM, Mass. – Owen Amsden posted a career-best mark in the 5000-meter run as Vermont track & field was in action on Day 1 of the New England Championships Friday at Solomon Outdoor Track.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Amsden (10th) posted a time of 14:53.17 to set his new personal record. The senior bested his previous mark by two seconds.
- Lauren Triarsi sits in third place through the first four events of the women's heptathlon. The senior has 2,913 points, and produced the second-highest mark in the high jump.
- Jackson Baker is currently in sixth place after the first five events of the men's decathlon. The senior has 2,897 points, and recorded sixth-place marks in the long jump and high jump.
- Kevin Mills and Pierce DeBoer both registered marks of 1.90 meters in the men's high jump, and placed 10th and 12th, respectively. Mills recorded a throw of 55.75 meters in the men's javelin to finish in 11th place.
- Gabby Rausa recorded an 11th-place finish in the women's 200-meter dash prelims with a time of 25.72 seconds. The sophomore also placed 16th in the women's 400-meter dash, posting a time of 58.23 seconds.
- Emma Leary led the Catamounts in the women's 10,000-meter run, finishing the day with a time of 39:45.87 in the race.
UP NEXT
The Catamounts will be represented in two meets on Saturday (May 13). Vermont will be back at the Solomon Outdoor Track for Day 2 of the New England Championships, starting at 10 a.m. A small group of Catamounts will be in Fairfax, Virginia for the ECAC/IC4A Championships. Events begin at 3:00 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
