FIELD HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont (3-4) returns home to begin conference play after going on the road to take on Iowa and Merrimack. Conference play starts on Friday (Sept.22) when the Catamounts take on New Hampshire (5-2) at 3 p.m. The weekend wraps up with a visit from Cal (3-3) at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Both games will be streamed live on AmericaEast.TV.

PROMOTIONS
Friday's contest will be the Rally Around Mental Health game presented by Redstone and Spread Respect game. The first 300 fans who stop by the marketing table will get a Field Hockey Schedule poster. Redstone, United Way, and the UVM RAMH team will all be tabling at the game. Redstone will have small giveaway items and will also be raffling off three gift baskets throughout the Fall RAMH series. Sunday's game will be Poster Day, where you can pick up a copy of your 2023 Catamounts team photo and get it signed by the student-athletes and coaching staff after the game.
LAST TIME OUT
Vermont split their trip to Iowa, as they fell 5-0 to the top-ranked Hawkeyes on Friday before shutting out Merrimack 4-0 to end the weekend. Sophia Lefranc paced the Catamounts throughout the weekend as she had the only shot on target Friday before scoring twice on Saturday. Maddie Moran and Lotte Kanters also scored on Saturday, with Kanters scoring for the first time in a Vermont uniform. Ila Gunner saw her first collegiate action over the weekend as she appeared against Iowa before starting against Merrimack on Saturday and posting a shutout in her first career start.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire enters the Friday afternoon matchup after opening conference play with victories over Stanford and UC Davis. New Hampshire was picked to finish fourth in the America East Preseason Poll after posting a 10-10 (3-5 AE) record in 2022. Tasmin Cookman leads the team in scoring with nine goals and 19 points, while Nicole Poulakis and Kathelijne Knuttel have recorded 14 and 11 points. Goalkeeper Jemma Woods has a 5-2 record in 7 starts and a 2.24 goals-against-average.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS
Cal enters the Sunday matchup after winning two games two weeks ago to LIU and Stonehill. Before visiting Burlington, the Golden Bears will also travel to Albany on Sept. 22. Cal was picked to finish seventh in the America East Preseason Poll after posting a 4-11 (3-5 AE) record in 2022. Daniella Rhodes leads the team in scoring with six goals and 12 points, while Kitty Baccanello and Bente Baekers have recorded 10 and nine points. Goalkeeper Tina Jolly has a 3-3 record in 6 starts and a 2.11 goals-against-average.
SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts and Wildcats have played 45 times, with New Hampshire holding a 36-9 advantage in the series. The most recent matchup went the way of Vermont last year as they beat the Wildcats 3-2 in overtime. Vermont and Cal have met five times, with the Golden Bears holding a 3-2 advantage in the series. The most recent matchup went the way of the Catamounts when they won 4-3 in overtime last year.
