Vermont (6-4-0, 0-2-0 AE) will host UMass Lowell (1-3-5, 1-0-1 AE) at Virtue Field in their annual Rally Against Cancer Game presented by Mascoma Bank on Sunday, October 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on AmericaEast.TV.

RALLY AGAINST CANCER pres. MASCOMA BANK

AMONG THE BEST IN THE AMERICA EAST
This season the Catamounts are ranked third in the conference in goals scored (16) and second in scoring average (1.60) and scoring margin (.30). Vermont is also third in save percentage (.814) and tied for second in total saves (57) led by
Erin Murphy who leads America East in saves per game at 6.20 and is fifth in save percentage at .795.
Kate Bossert has continued her tear for the Catamounts ranking second in goals scored (7), game-winning goals (3), points (16) and third in shots (28) and shots on goal (16).
Bailey Ayer is tied for the conference lead with five assists while her seven points is ranked eighth in the league.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Currently the Catamounts rank top 100 in numerous categories in the country. They are tied for 42nd in saves per game at 5.70, 79th in save percentage at .814 and are 90th in corner kicks per game at 5.30. Bossert has lead the Catamounts with seven goals and 16 total points on the season. Her goals scored is tied for 29th nationally, her 16 points are tied for 44th in the nation and her three game-winning goals on the season is tied for 16th in the country. Ayer leads the Catamounts and is tied for the America East lead with five assists which is tied for 35th in the nation.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
On the season, the River Hawks have been outscored 10-8 and outshot 132-96 while surrendering 56 corner kicks to their own 36. Senior Calliste Brookshire leads UMass Lowell with six points on two goals and two assists. First year Luka Marceau and fifth year Julia Edholm have also scored two goals this season for the River Hawks. Redshirt senior Taylor Burgess has been an anchor in net starting all nine games and playing every minute while registering 43 saves, an .811 save percentage and a 1.11 goals against average with one victory.
INSIDE THE SERIES
This will be the 11th matchup all-time between the Catamounts and the River Hawks with UMass Lowell holding a 4-3-3 advantage in the series. The two teams first matchup came in 2013, the inaugural season of UMass Lowell entering the America East, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Vermont in Lowell, Massachusetts. Last season the teams battled in an explosive back-and-forth game in Lowell which ended in a 4-3 River Hawks' victory. Bossert,
Sydney Remington and
Fiona Doherty each registered a goal for Vermont in that defeat. Overall, the series has been tight with UMass Lowell holding just a 14-13 advantage in goals, while five of the matchups have gone to at least one overtime. In those five overtime matchups, Vermont is 1-2-2 with one of those losses coming on the road in penalty kicks during the 2018 America East semifinals.
WHO'S NEXT
Following Sunday's matchup with the River Hawks, Vermont will have a week off before heading on the road to take on America East foe UMBC on Sunday, October 8. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
