Five Catamounts Inducted into the Hall of Fame on UVM Weekend

BURLINGTON, Vt. – On Friday night at the Dudley H. Davis Center UVM Athletics inducted five new members to the UVM Athletics Hall of Fame at the 54th Hall of Fame Dinner presented by NFP. Tim Kelley '13 (skiing), Julie McGilpin '13 (cross country & track and field), Drew Philie '13 (lacrosse), Kate Weaver '11 (swimming & diving) and Ron McEachen (soccer) took their place amongst the greatest Catamounts of all-time.

Captain of both cross country and track teams as a seniorShe claimed the women's 1000-meter title at the 2013 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships against runners from some of the top programs in the Northeast. In the preliminary round, she lowered her own school record in the event with a time of 2:47.95. This was her second ECAC Indoor title, her first coming in 2011 in the 800m. Earlier in the 2013 season, McGilpin narrowly missed winning the one-mile at the prestigious Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City as she placed second overall with a personal best time.  She recorded the third best time in school history in the event. Was a member of the 2012 New England Indoor Championship winning 4x800m team. That day, the relay team set the New England Meet record, BU Facility Record, and UVM school record in the event. America East Outdoor Champion in the 800m as a sophomore and junior.

Tim Kelley '13 | Video Presentation
Kelley was a three-time All-American for the Catamounts. He won the 2011 NCAA Slalom Championship as a rookie and was the national runner-up in the event in 2012. At the 2012 NCAA Skiing Championships he was the only male to earn First Team All-America honors in the GS and slalom. He helped the Catamounts win their sixth NCAA National Championship in 2012 and earned back-to-back EISA All-East honors in 2011 and 2012. In 2015, Kelley finished 23rd in the men's slalom race at the World Alpine Ski Championships, posting his first World Championship result in his career. Following a four-year stint on the World-Cup circuit, he returned to UVM as an assistant coach.

Drew Philie '13 | Video Presentation
2010 America East Rookie of the Year and 2010 America East Fan's Choice Player of the Year. Was named Second Team All-Conference all four seasons with the Catamounts. Finished his career ranked second in program history in all-time goals (124), fifth in all-time points (176) and 10th in all-time assists (52). Team captain in his final three years at Vermont. Ended his career on a 48-game point-scoring streak, which was third longest in the nation at the time. As a senior was Named to the NEILA All-New England Second Team and led the team in points (44) and goals (35).
 
Kate Weaver '11 | Video Presentation
Ended her career as the career record holder at Vermont in the 100 backstroke (56.62), 200 backstroke (2:01.47) and 200 IM (2:05.88), as well as being a member of all five record-setting relay teams in Catamount history (200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays and the 200 and 400 medley relays). Named America East Swimmer of the Week on eight separate occasions. As a senior, she took first at least once in six different events and won at least one event in all but one meet. As a first year at Vermont she broke seven freshman records. Set 16 individual and relay pool records at other universities during her four years. She was named to the All-Conference Team all four seasons at Vermont. As a first year she was the America East Champion in the 200 backstroke, she's the only Catamount in program history to win the event at the conference championships.

Ron McEachen - Special Inductee | Video Presentation
Led the Catamounts as Head Coach of men's soccer for 11 seasons and is tied for the program record for wins with 114. Helped lead Vermont to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 1989 and 1990 with consecutive conference titles. Led Vermont in its "Dream Season" of 1989. The Cats went on an incredible 19-0-1 run that brought with it a school record in wins, a No. 1 ranking in New England, and a top-10 national ranking. Overall 300-193-71 as a Head Coach at Skidmore, Middlebury and Vermont. Played professionally with New York and Miami in the NASL. Coach McEachen also coached in the professional ranks as a coach with the New England Revolution of the MLS. He was also a National staff coach for both United States Soccer Federation and United Soccer Coaches Association. He has also been inducted in the following Hall of Fames - Mitchell College, Connecticut State Soccer Association, Skidmore College (Team).
