COACH'S QUOTE
"A much better game from us tonight even though we didn't get the outcome," Head CoachÂ
Jim Plumer said. "We played much more to our identity, and we certainly had our chances. The biggest lesson is for us to bring that same intensity and focus to the first game of the weekend. Hopefully we can do that next week at UConn."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Vermont opened an early 1-0 lead 6:27 into the game. Brooke George connected with Natálie Mlýnková at the Catamount blue line. Mlýnková skated though the neutral zone with a two-on-two rush, faked a pass and fired a wrist shot blocker side high for the first score of the contest. Alaina Tanski was credited with the secondary assist.
- 16:49 into the first period, Christina Vota skated through the neutral zone and toe dragged around a UVM defender at the blue line before firing cross-crease pass to Catherine Foulem who netted the equalizing goal.
- Just over a minute later, BU took advantage of a Vermont change with a stretch pass from Sydney Healy to Ani FitzGerald. FitzGerald skated in on McPherson (22 saves) and faked a backhanded shot before firing a low wrister to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.
- UVM responded with the equalizing goal 14:49 into the second period. Kaylee Lewis poked a loose puck to Lara Beecher, creating a one-on-one break with BU's goalie. Beecher skated in on her forehand before quickly switching to her backhand and firing a shot just under the right pad of Alexa Matses (17 saves).
- The Terriers scored the go-ahead goal 1:01 into the third period. Clara Yuhn dropped a pass back to Lacy Martin in the high slot. Martin unleashed a snapshot glove-side high to give BU a 3-2 lead early in the third.
- Nadia Mattivi added an empty net goal for BU with 1:27 remaining in the third period.
