COACH'S QUOTE
"Again, not the outcome we wanted but it was a competitive game," Head CoachÂ
Jim Plumer said. "Credit to UConn and especially their special teams. We will be ready for tomorrow."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Huskies opened the scoring 11:27 into the first period on the first power play of the contest. Senior forward Jada Habisch scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season to open the scoring. With speed, she entered the UVM zone and cut outside before driving to the net and slipping a shot past Jessie McPherson.
- UConn doubled its advantage with another power play tally with 3:05 left in the second period. A point shot from Ava Rinker deflected off a Vermont defenders stick in front and found the back of the net. Kyla Josifovic picked up an assist on the tally.
- Habisch struck again on the power play 1:18 into the third period to give the Huskies a three-goal advantage. McPherson made the initial save but for the Huskies the puck took a fortuitous bounce and caromed in off a UVM defenders' stick.
