BURLINGTON, Vt. – No. 16 Vermont (8-1-4, 3-0-1 AE) heads on the road in America East action as they travel to Maryland to face UMBC (4-6-4, 1-2-1 AE) Saturday night at 7 p.m. The action from Retriever Soccer Park will air live on ESPN+.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP
- The Retrievers are 0-3-2 in the month of October and have conceded 11 goals over that span.
- Last Saturday UMBC fell 2-1 at New Hampshire. With 49 seconds left in the contest UMBC's Loc San scored on a penalty kick for the Retrievers.
- Sophomore striker Ryan Calheira leads the team in scoring with four goals this season.
- Graduate defender Hans Nesheim has a team-high assists for the Retrievers.
- The Catamounts own an 11-7-1 record in the all-time series but have dropped two straight games to UMBC. Last season UMBC topped UVM 2-1 at Virtue Field. UVM is 7-2-1 in its last 10 matchups with the Retrievers.
- UVM's Max Murray scored his first collegiate goal in 2-1 win over UMBC in 2021.
CATS JUMP IN RPI
Vermont jumped up to No. 16 in the NCAA RPI Rankings after its 1-0 win over Bryant last weekend. The Catamounts are the highest-rated America East school, ahead of New Hampshire (No. 44) and Bryant (No. 72). America East is rated as the ninth-toughest league among the 22 NCAA Division I conferences sponsoring men's soccer.
CATAMOUNTS JUST KEEP ON ROLLING
- Since 2021 the Catamounts are 20-0-0 when scoring three or more goals.
- The Catamounts haven't lost a game since August 22 and are currently on a 12-game unbeaten streak. They have also won four straight games.
- Vermont's current .769 winning percentage is 11th best in the NCAA.
- The Catamounts offense and depth has come through time and time again this season. UVM has scored 11 goals in the 76th minute or later and eight goals in the 83rd minute or later this year.
- Vermont is the only team this season in league play to earn at least a point in all four America East match days.
- With another assist Saturday Sydney Wathuta now leads the team and America East with nine this season. His nine assists are tied for third-best in Division I. His .75 assists per game is ranked fourth nationally.
- The Catamounts are a +17 in terms of goal differential this season, which ranks first in America East and tenth in the NCAA.
AMERICA EAST PLAYOFF PICTURE
- The Catamounts are the only team in America East that can clinch a playoff berth this weekend. Vermont will clinch a playoff berth with a win at UMBC.
- UVM would also clinch a playoff berth with a tie Saturday night and a UMass Lowell loss combined with a UAlbany tie or loss.
- Vermont currently has 10 points in league play and leads second place New Hampshire by three points. Last season the AE Regular Season Champion had 15 points. Since 2012 the top-seed in the America East Tournament has had between 15-19 points.
BUSY STRETCH TO CLOSE OUT THE CAMPAIGN
- Vermont and the rest of America East will close out the regular season with three matches in 11 days. After Saturday's match at UMBC Vermont will travel to face UMass Lowell on Friday, November 1 at 3 p.m.
- The Catamounts close out the regular season hosting Binghamton on Tuesday, November 5 at 6 p.m. from Virtue Field. Fans can purchase tickets for that matchup at go.uvm.edu/nov5.
