ALBANY, N.Y – The fourth seeded Catamounts scored three times in 12 minutes to erase a halftime deficit to win the America East Championship on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Wildcats opened the scoring 25 seconds in when Kathelijne Knuttel scored on a penalty corner, assisted by Tasmin Cookman and Addison Macneil.
• The Wildcats doubled their lead in the 29th minute when Immie Gilgrass tapped in a rebound.
• Meg Weyer got one back for Vermont when she scored on an assist from Sophia Drees in the 34th minute.
• Marie Dijkstra tied it in the 36th minute when she took it herself to score.
• Weyer got her second of the game when she deflected a pass from Lotte Kanters in the 46th minute to give the Catamounts the lead for good.
• The Vermont defense held firm in the final minute, stopping three penalty corners.

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Weyer's two goals were the first multi-goal game of her career. She has seven goals on the season and 20 points for the first time ever.
• Merle Vaandrager had five saves in the win as the rookie goalie picked up her ninth win.
• Sophia Lefranc was named player of the tournament after scoring three goals in the first two games.
• Drees, Kanters, Vaandrager, and Lefranc were also named to the all-tournament team.

After capturing the America East Championship Sunday afternoon, the Catamounts have punched their ticket to the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Vermont will know its opponent and location on Selection Sunday, which will be streamed at 10 p.m. ET here.
