COACH'S QUOTE
"Another heartbreaking loss for a team that is playing so hard for each other and playing so well in every aspect of the game except scoring goals," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "I genuinely believe the tide will turn for us at some point soon and we will start getting the results we deserve."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No goals were scored throughout the opening frame as the Catamounts entered the first intermission outshooting the Wildcats seven to four. Lara Beecher had Vermont's best opportunity of the period 10:14 into the game, streaking down the far side boards, electing to rip a snapshot, but her shot rang off the pipe staying out of the net, keeping the game scoreless, 0-0.
- Beecher saw another prime scoring opportunity 7:16 into the second period when she broke free for a breakaway, beating the goaltender with a series of stick handles, but the backhand tuck never found the back of the net, maintaining the 0-0 score.
- After a scoreless second period, New Hampshire finally broke the ice, scoring on the powerplay 4:46 into the third frame seeing Callista Printz unleash a wrist shot from the top of the circle, making it past the glove of Jane Gervais with tons of traffic in front, earning the Wildcats the opening 1-0 lead.
- The Catamounts never bounced back as the Wildcats skated away with a 1-0 win from Gutterson Fieldhouse.
