TJ Hurley’s 23 Points Leads Vermont Past Northeastern

BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's basketball team took a 4-point in Burlington, Vermont against Northeastern. TJ Hurley led the Catamounts with a career-high 23 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Shamir Bogues returned to the starting lineup as he scores Vermont's first points in the game.
  • TJ Hurley had 10 straight points for the Catamounts with two acrobatic finishes near the rim. Vermont went up 12-4 with 15:44 remaining in the first half.
  • A Noah Barnett steal to a Jace Roquemore three sparked a Catamount 11-0 run. During that run, Vermont was 7 of 8 from the field.
  • Seth Job hit a three from the top of the key, and Vermont went up 27-13 after the 8-minute media timeout.  
  • Sean Blake had an offensive rebound and hit TJ Hurley in the corner as he made his 2nd three of the game. With 4:41 remaining in the 1st half, Vermont was up 33-16.
  • Catamounts led Northeastern at half 35-22 going 6 for 11 from three (54.5%).
  • Sean Blake went coast-to-coast to start the 2nd half.
  • With 15:57 in the 2nd half, Northeastern cut into the lead as Vermont led 37-30.
  • Ileri Ayo-Faleye had three blocks in the first eight minutes of the 2nd half. He racked up his sixth block of the game, which marked a single-game career-high for him.
  • Sean Blake had an and-one layup go along with two other shots in the paint. At the end of the 12-minute media timeout, Vermont led 49-33.
  • Northeastern went on a 12-3 run and cut the lead to 7. Vermont led 52-45 with 7:28 remaining in the 2nd half.
  • Ileri Ayo-Faleye recorded his 7th block and on the following offensive possession, TJ Hurley hit a left-side corner three.
  • After the last media timeout (3:02 2nd), Catamounts led the Huskies 59-50.
  • Northeastern was able to go on a 9-5 run as Vermont only led 64-59. Sam Alamutu was fouled with 1:07 remaining and hit two free throws to extend the lead to 7.
  • The Huskies full-court press led to two straight steals and scores. Northeastern cut the deficit to three as Vermont led 67-64.
  • Jace Roquemore was fouled and made one free throw with 1.3 seconds on the clock. Vermont would go on to win 68-64.

  • TJ Hurley had a career-high 23 points. Hurley went (3-6) from three and (8-9) from the free throw line.
  • Ileri Ayo-Faleye recorded a career-high seven blocks. Ayo-Faleye also contributed 10 points and tied a team-high seven rebounds.
  • Seth Joba posted a career-high seven rebounds off the bench.
  • Vermont (48.8%) outshot Northeastern (37.5%) from the field.
  • Catamounts won the battle on the glass outrebounding the Huskies 39 to 33. Four Catamounts recorded 5+ rebounds: Ayo-Faleye (7), Seth Joba (7), Sam Alamutu (5), and Jace Roquemore (5).
  • Vermont allowed only one three-pointer. This marks the third game this season that Catamounts have allowed (three or less) three-pointers. Catamounts are 3-0 on the season when this happens.
