BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont head coach
Matt Belfield announced captains for the 2024-25 men's and women's track and field teams on Thursday.
Davis Cote,
Knute Linehan,
Kenneth Morrissey,
Alex Siaton, and
Jameson Sparks will captain the men's indoor track and field team.
Conor Moses will replace Siaton as captain in the spring.
Carolena Bellini,
Gabby Rausa,
Hope Tyska,
Cara Van de Meulebroecke, and
Emma Wapshare will be the women's squad captains.

"Our group this year has both returning captains and emerging leaders. We will again rely heavily upon these folks to mentor our teams in all areas of student-athlete experience," said head coach
Matt Belfield. "Each of these captains understands the importance of this role and I am looking forward to seeing their growth in the coming year."
Cote takes over leadership for the first time in track after serving as a cross-country captain the last two seasons. His 2023-24 season saw him have seven top 10 finishes, including multiple sixth place finishes at the UMass Lowell Invitational. Cote was also honored on the America East Academic Honor Roll for his success in the classroom during the past year.
Morrissey takes on a leadership role for the first time on the track this season after serving as a cross-country captain last year. His 2023-24 saw him earn ECAC all-conference honors in the 800 and post the third-fastest indoor 800 and fourth-fastest outdoor 800. He had 12 top five finishes across the indoor and outdoor seasons combined. He has also been on the America East Academic Honor Roll throughout his collegiate career.
Moses will serve as a captain for the first time in his career this spring. He finished in the top 10 of four of the six meets he competed in. He had a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 55.92 meters. He was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for a second consecutive year.
Siaton returns as a captain for the second straight year. His 2023-24 season was one for the record books as he earned all-conference honors in the 200 meters and broke the school record in the 200 and 300 meters. He also recorded the third-fastest 60-meter time ever. He also broke the outdoor 200-meter school record. He was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for a second consecutive year. The indoor season will be Siaton's final season of eligibility, he will then transition into a coaching role for the outdoor season.
Sparks assumes a leadership role on the track for the first time, but the second time this year, as he was a captain during the cross-country season. His 2023-24 season placed him in the top 10 multiple times. He earned all-conference honors during the outdoor season for the steeplechase. He has also been on the America East Academic Honor Roll throughout his collegiate career.
Bellini will serve as a captain for the second straight year. She returns after recording multiple top-10 finishes in the long jump and relays. She was part of the America East Academic honor roll last year for her performances in the classroom.
Rausa serves in a leadership role for the second straight year. She returns after a junior season that saw her break the school record in the 300 and run the fourth-fastest 400 in program history. She recorded personal bests in the 300, 400, 500, and 800 last year among multiple top 10 finishes.
Tyska will serve as a track captain for the first time after serving as a cross-country captain this fall. She did not compete on the track last year, but her 2022-23 season was a successful one that saw her record personal bests in the 1000, 1500, mile, 3000, and steeplechase. She was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for her success in the classroom during the past year.
Van de Meulebroecke will serve in leadership for the first time on the track. She did serve as a captain this fall during cross country. Her 2023-24 season saw her record multiple top-10 finishes as well as personal bests in the mile and 3000. She was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for her success in the classroom during the past year.
Wapshare rounds out the leadership group, as she will serve as captain for the second straight year. In the 2023-24 season, she set a personal best in the javelin that was the seventh longest in program history.
The Catamounts open the season on Saturday, December 7, when they travel to the Sharon Colyear-Danville Invite at Boston University.
