LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts dropped their season opener to then #12 Syracuse 20-7. Brock Haley and Tristan Whitaker had two goals on the afternoon, while Charlie Pope and Carson Boyle recorded two points each. George Egan had nine saves for Vermont.Â
WEEKLY HONORS
Mason Bardwell was honored as the America East Rookie of the Week for his three groundballs against the Orange last Saturday.
RETURNING FIREPOWER
Despite graduating 14 seniors last year, UVM returns four all-conference selections and two all-rookie team selections. That group includes back-to-back 50-point scorer Haley, all-rookie, and second-team all-conference nominee Whitaker, who was third in scoring for the Cats a season ago with 27 points. On the defensive side of the ball, first-team all-conference defensive midfielder Patrick Murphy returns, and second-team all-conference selection Tim Manning to help a defense that ranked 10th in the country a season ago with 10.2 goals allowed per game.Â
IN THE POLLS
The Terriers find themselves receiving votes in the USILA poll and ranked 18th in the Inside Lacrosse Poll and USA Lacrosse Magazine.Â
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Boston University returns four of their five leading scorers from a year ago, including Vince D'Alto, who had 68, and Louis Perfetto with 64. The Terriers won their season opener against St. Joseph's 14-10 behind seven points from Perfetto and five goals from Jake Cates. On the defensive side of the ball, BU returns preseason all-Americans, Roy Meyer and Patrick Morrison. Junior Will Barnes posted 18 saves in his first collegiate start.Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday marks the fifth meeting between the Catamounts and the Terriers. The series is tied at two wins apiece, and last year's 14-12 win by Vermont marked the program's first-ever win over a ranked non-conference opponent. Jonas Hunter led the Catamounts in scoring that day with five goals and two assists, while Haley had a hattrick and five assists for eight points.Â
