He now has 170 faceoff wins this season to go with 83 ground balls, which puts him sixth and eighth, respectively, for all-time single-season totals. spots, five on the first team, two on the second team, four all-rookie selections, and one on the all-academic team.Â
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Vermont is making its sixth straight appearance in the conference tournament under Chris Feifs, and it will be the second seed for only the second time in the last 25 years. The Catamounts are 5-5 all-time in semifinals but 4-1 under Coach Feifs. They are 1-1 all-time against UMBC in tournament play, with both of those games coming in championships, most recently in 2022. Â
SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
UMBC comes into the semifinals having lost three of its last five and finished 4-3 in conference play. Mike Doughty leads the Retrievers' offense with 49 points on 14 goals and 35 assists. His 35 assists are third in the country, as he averages 3.18 per game. Brian Tregoning is the team's leading scorer with 32 goals and 41 points. Jayson Tingue will start in goal. The senior has recorded an 11.55 goals against average in 11 starts this season.Â

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont has only won eight of the 22 meetings, but seven of those have come in the last ten games. The Catamounts' win last Saturday stretches their winning streak to four games. Their last loss came in 2021 when they fell 10-8 in Baltimore.Â
