Second-seeded Vermont (8-7, 5-2 AE) will take on top-seeded UAlbany (8-7, 6-1 AE) in the America East Championship on Saturday afternoon (May 4) in Albany, NY. The opening faceoff will be at 3:00 p.m. ET at Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. Â

The Catamounts won their semifinal matchup with a 10-8 come-from-behind win over UMBC on Thursday.
Tristan Whitaker and
Max Frattaroli each had hattricks to lead all scorers.
Charlie Pope had three points as one of three to have three on the day.
Griffin Fenech scored two goals, and
Jack Fitch scored the 10th to put the game away.
Henry Dodge went 14-20 on the faceoffs with 10 ground balls to help control possession.
George Egan had another big game in cage with 15 saves and five ground balls.Â

TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Vermont is making its sixth straight appearance in the conference tournament under
Chris Feifs, and it will be the second seed for only the second time in the last 25 years. Saturday's championship will be the fifth under Feifs. The Catamounts are 2-3 all-time in championships, with both wins coming in 2021 and 2022. They are 3-2 all-time against UAlbany in tournament play, with the three coming in as champions and two in the semifinals. Their most recent meeting came on Virtue a year ago in the semifinals. Â

SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
UAlbany comes into the championship having won four of their last five, with the lone loss coming to the eighth-ranked Yale. Silas Richmond leads the Great Danes offensively, as he has 37 goals and 22 assists for 59 points this season. Ryan Doherty is the number two scorer, as he has 31 goals and 12 assists this year. First-year Landon Whitney figures to start in goal as he has started every game this season while posting an 11.37 goals against average.Â

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and UAlbany have met 35 times, with the Catamounts winning 12. Eight of those 12 victories have come in the last 10 games as they have won eight of 10, including three playoff victories. The two teams met earlier this season, where the Great Danes were victorious 13-11. Pope and Whitaker had five and four points, respectively, on the day to pace the Vermont offense.Â
