Porth (1500), Wapshare (Javelin), Abby Martin (Javelin), Clare Kelly (5K), Caroline Deiss (5K), and Samantha Alexander (Discus) will be the six Catamounts competing at George Mason this weekend.Â
LAST TIME AT GEORGE MASON
This weekend's trip to Fairfax will not be Vermont's first trip down there this season, as they competed at the George Ebanks Invitational in early April. The Catamounts had six top-five finishes and 19 in the top 10 over two days. Nine athletes recorded their season-best marks during the first trip to George Mason. Wapshare also recorded the seventh-longest javelin throw in Vermont history during the weekend.Â
LAST TIME AT THE NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Catamounts had success last year at Holy Cross as the 4x100 relay team of Henry Miller, Andrew Ponessi, Jake Bair, and Siaton set the school record. The men's team tied for 15th with 40 points, while the women's team was 33rd with six points. Vermont had six places inside the top 10, including Sparks, who was fourth in the steeplechase; Jackson Baker, who earned sixth in the decathlon; Kenneth Morrissey, who was ninth in the 800; and Mills, who was 10th in the high jump.Â
