BURLINGTON, Vt. – Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach John Becker has announced that Derryk O'Grady '17 has been promoted to assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 season. O'Grady will be entering his 12th season with the Vermont men's basketball program.
 
"I'm really excited for Derryk's promotion to assistant coach," said Becker. "He's been a big part of our program. Starting as a student manager, a graduate assistant, director of basketball operations, he's done an incredible job at every position that he's held for us and I'm really, really happy and proud of promoting him to assistant coach. He's going to do a great job in that role. He's been a big, big part of our success over the last decade and I'm really happy to keep him on board."
 
O'Grady has played a role in six America East Championship runs by the Catamounts in 11 seasons with the program. He has served as Director of Basketball Operations over the last three seasons—the Catamounts have earned championships in each of those seasons. O'Grady's tenure with the program has also six seasons as a student manager and graduate assistant, and two seasons as assistant to the head coach.
 
On top of the six America East crowns, Vermont has captured nine regular season titles during his time with the program. From 2015-19, UVM made five straight America East Championship Game appearances, the first program to achieve the milestone in 23 years. 
 
O'Grady earned a Bachelor of Science for Community Entrepreneurship from UVM in 2017, and Master of Education in 2019.
 
A local product of Milton High School, O'Grady was a three-year starter for the Yellowjackets and became the school's third 1,000-point scorer. He averaged 13.2 points per game in his career, including 21.1 points per contest as a senior.
