BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's basketball team won in Patrick Gym Thursday night against Binghamton.
TJ Hurley led the Catamounts in scoring with a career-high 26 points.
Shamir Bogues led UVM defensively with seven steals which marked the most steals by a Vermont player since Howard Hudson recorded seven steals back in 1986.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont started quick with a tip-off win turned into a layup for Shamir Bogues.
- Coming off his basket, Bogues stole the ball down by the Catamount bench leading to another layup, starting the Catamounts off strong with a 4-0 lead.
- The Catamounts were strong on defense out the gate, pushing Binghamton to a shot-clock violation in the first three minutes of the game.
- Nick Fiorillo started the game on fire going 3-3 from deep as Vermont took an 18-11 lead over Binghamton.
- At the 16-minute media timeout taken at 12:32, the Catamounts lead 22-11.
- Noah Barnett was fouled just before the 12-minute media timeout. He shoots two after, making both as UVM held a 24-16 lead.
- Shamir Bogues was a force to be reckoned with on defense in the first half with three early steals.
- TJ Hurley hit a three-pointer from the left wing thanks to a Shamir Bogues pass. Vermont went up 33-21 with five minutes remaining.
- TJ Hurley hit a turnaround jump shot from the left side bringing the Catamounts to 37-26 lead with 2:28 minutes left.

- Bogues' fifth steal of the game led to a TJ Hurley jump shot putting the Catamounts up 45-37.

- After not scoring since 13:37 left in the second half, Sean Blake made a free throw at 10:09. Catamounts still held a 51-46 lead.
- UVM would go on a 5-3 run thanks to a TJ Hurley three and two free throws.

- Bogues had his 6th steal of the game, passing it down to Hurley for another left-wing three at 5:37.
- With four seconds left on the shot clock, Hurley finished in the paint to put UVM up 62-53.

Tonight there was a special Cats' Win, Community Win's program presentation. Vermont Mutual Insurance Group presented a check for $20,000 to Vermont Childrens Trust Foundation. Vermont Mutual has been supporting our community with a $100 donation to a local non-profit for every Catamount Win. During 2024, UVM Teams totaled 140 wins for a $14,000 donation. With the historic accomplishments from our Men's Soccer team, Swim and Dive Team and Field Hockey team, Vermont Mutual has decided to round up to $20,000! Since it's inaugural debut in 2017, Vermont Mutual has donated over $114,000 to local non-profits through the Cats Win, Community Wins Campaign, bringing the total community donations granted through their Charitable Giving Fund since its launch in 2014 to $5.4 million. It was also announced that the beneficiary of the 2025 Cats Win Community Wins initiative is the Lund Center. For each UVM win in 2025, Vermont Mutual will contribute $100 to the Lund Center!
