BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's basketball team took a loss in Patrick Gym against UMBC.
Ileri Ayo-Faleye led the Catamounts with 14 points.

"Tough loss today, you got to give UMBC credit. We knew they were going play fast and they had great weekend winning two games on the road. We got off to a great start and then really struggled for the next 30 minutes of the game. I have to do a better job of getting our guys turned around and ready to play."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ileri Ayo-Faleye started strong winning the tip off and then making a pass to Shamir Bogues for the first two points of the game.
- In the next possession, Nick Fiorillo hit a left-side three-pointer as the shot clock expired. Catamounts lead 5-0.
- At 18:24, Bogues stole the ball from UMBC leading to a Sam Alamutu dunk.
- After a UMBC timeout, the Catamounts were up 10-0.
- The Retrievers bounced back tying the game 12-12 at the 16-minute media timeout.
- Jace Roquemore restarted the Catamount attack with a three-pointer from the middle.
- At the 12-minute media timeout, the Catamounts held on with a 17-16 lead.
- Nick Fiorillo hit a lay-up at 8:53 putting the Catamounts on the board for the first time since 12:41.
- UMBC timeout called with 6:06 left in the first half, the Catamounts trailed 32-21.
- Ileri Ayo-Faleye brought back some energy with a left-side 3 pointer. UMBC still led 36-26.
- At halftime, the Catamounts trailed the Retrievers 44-28.
